Frame transactions (EIP-8141)

In plain words

A planned new transaction type (Hegotá) where accounts choose their own signature scheme and can rotate keys.

Why it matters: The native way for accounts to move off ECDSA to quantum-safe signatures.

The details

On the map: pluggable signature schemes + key rotation: the native off-ramp from ECDSA

Map note, rests on: the account's own scheme: ECDSA today, leanSPHINCS later

A new transaction type (EIP-8141)[1], scheduled for Hegotá. Instead of one fixed ECDSA signature, a transaction carries "frames" whose verification logic the account defines, with pluggable signature schemes and native key rotation.

It is the native off-ramp from ECDSA: accounts could move to post-quantum signatures such as leanSPHINCS[2] without changing their address. On its own it adds no cryptography. Each account rests on whichever scheme it uses.

Rests on

If any of these breaks, this breaks too.

If it falls

If this breaks, these break with it.

Nothing on the map depends on it: it is an end point of the roadmap.
