ePBS (EIP-7732)

In plain words

Planned for Glamsterdam: moves the outsourcing of block building into the protocol itself.

Why it matters: Removes reliance on trusted middlemen called relays.

The details

On the map: builder bids and payload-timeliness votes

Map note, rests on: BLS + honest PTC majority

Enshrined proposer-builder separation (EIP-7732)[1], the consensus headliner of Glamsterdam. Today block building is outsourced through trusted relays. ePBS moves it into the protocol: builders submit BLS-signed bids, proposers commit to one, and a payload-timeliness committee attests that the payload arrived on time.

It adds more BLS-signed messages to consensus, so it inherits BLS, and it adds the honest-committee assumption. It is live on the Sepolia testnet since October 6, 2026[2]. The mainnet date is not set.

Rests on

If any of these breaks, this breaks too.

If it falls

If this breaks, these break with it.

Nothing on the map depends on it: it is an end point of the roadmap.
